The Whittington U’s Defensive Pistol I Course is an Intermediate Level Defensive Sidearm instruction, basic handgun experience is strongly recommended such as proper gun safety, gun handling and knowledge of your firearm.
This course focuses on the everyday implementation of the Firearm into our lives.
The WU Defensive Pistol series focuses on Violence as a Means of Last Resort, with the defense of ourselves and our loved ones as part of an overall lifestyle change.

Two Days
- This is a progressive curriculum. We require students to take the courses in succession: Defensive Pistol I - Defensive Pistol II - Defensive Pistol III - Defensive Pistol Masters
- Course participants may also purchase an ammunition package with the appropriate round count. (Call to check availability of Ammunition Packages)
- AMMUNITION PACKAGE IS RESTRICTED TO ONE PER PERSON PER COURSE.

1130-1300 – Lunch
1300-1600 – Static Fire Drills – High Ready Position - 7yd line
Day 2
0730-1130 – Static Fire Drills – Holstered Position - 7yd/12yd line
1130-1300 – Lunch
1300-1600 – Individual Movement Drills/Principles of Cover
1600 Final Lecture

Whittington University Course Cancellation Policy
A 30-day cancellation notice is required to cancel your Course registration prior to the first day of class in order to receive a full course refund. The NRA Whittington Center will not issue you a refund if you fail to cancel your registration before the 30-day time period.
Course cancellations and refunds are handled separately from any onsite lodging.

Safety Policy
The safety of our students and instructors are treated as top priority. The NRA Whittington Center staff and instructors have the right to remove someone from class or the range at any point during the duration of the course should there be a concern for safety risks. A student who is removed will not receive a certificate of completion. A Refund will not be issued.
Every guest 18 years of age and older must read and sign the online Waiver before they are allowed onto the NRA Whittington Center. For those younger than 18 years of age a parent or legal guardian must complete the form and sign it on their behalf. Waivers must be filled out once a year every year on or after January 1st.

This course is the Intermediate to Advanced Level Defensive Sidearm instruction that focuses on the cognitive disconnect that occurs when the mind is under emotional duress.
This course is the Advanced Level Defensive Sidearm instruction that focuses on Lowlight/No-light engagements, while employing a strong fundamental interaction with the firearm, and flashlight, along with Principles of Cover.
This is a Masters level course that focuses on potential engagements that can occur during periods of darkness.
