Come stay with us! The general public is welcome to stay at the Whittington Center. There is a broad range of housing to accommodate individuals, couples, and small to large groups. Lodging options include modern housing, rustic cabins, back country cabins, campgrounds with RV hookups and primitive camping. Other facilities include a cafeteria, gift shop, bathhouse, training center and a variety of world-class shooting ranges.

Please review our Lodging and Camping FAQs for details about check-in time, pet policy, guest dog agreement etc. We offer something for everyone. See below and make plans today!


COMPETITOR HOUSING ($65.00 / PER ROOM)

The competitor housing is open to informal visitor housing, when not otherwise in use. The housing complex includes three dormitory style buildings. Each building has a central lobby with three separate wings. Each wing contains five bedrooms, each with two single beds, a kitchenette and two separate bathrooms with showers for men and women. Bring your own cooking and eating utensils, towels and toiletries.

FOUNDERS CABINS ($75.00 / ROOM FOR 2 PEOPLE, $105.00 / ROOM FOR 3 OR 4 PEOPLE)

The Leupold, Thompson, Kerner, and Brown Cabins comprise the Founders Retreat complex. Each has four bedrooms, with one queen bed and one twin bed in each of three rooms and one queen and two twin beds in the large handicap accessible room. Each room also contain a private bathroom. One bedroom in each unit is handicap accessible. These cabins overlook a beautiful meadow with an abundance of birds and wildlife. Each cabin has a common kitchen and living room area. The bedding is provided. Bring your own cooking and eating utensils, towels and toiletries.

LEGACY CABINS ($130.00 / NIGHT)


HARLON CARTER CABIN AND CHAIRMAN CABIN  ($110.00 / ROOM FOR 2 PEOPLE, $140.00 / ROOM FOR 3 OR 4 PEOPLE)

This newly renovated cabin was updated in 2016 with all new flooring, furniture, satellite TV, ceiling fans, kitchen appliances, and remodeled bathrooms. WIFI will also be available by the summer of 2017. It overlooks a beautiful meadow with an abundance of birds and wildlife. This cabin has one handicap accessible room, and a common kitchen and living room area. Guests will need to bring their own cooking and eating utensils, towels and toiletries.


BROWNELL SUITES ($160.00 / PER SUITE)

New for the Founders Retreat complex are the recently remodeled Brownell Family Suites. The Brownell Suites feature first class accommodations with a full kitchen, queen size bed, seating area with satellite television and fireplace, and bathroom all in a private suite. Unlike the other Founders Retreat cabins, the Brownell Suites are fully furnished with cooking and eating utensils, and towels. Housekeeping service is provided daily as well.

LOG CABINS ($20.00 / PER PERSON - MINIMUM 4 PEOPLE, MAXIMUM 10 PEOPLE PER CABIN)

This complex has twelve cabins. Eleven cabins are equipped with five bunk beds in each, a bathroom with shower. There is adequate closet and storage space in each cabin. Bring your own towels and toiletries. Cabin #6 has laundry facilities available for your use.

RV LOG CABINS ($40.00 / PER CABIN)

These cabins contain a bunk bed, a double bed, and electricity. The restroom, shower and laundry facilities are located nearby in the bathhouse. Bring your own towels, and toiletries. There are no cooking facilities in these cabins. Both cabins sleep four. Located at the East RV Campground.


RV CAMPGROUNDS ($35.00 / 30AMP — $40.00 / 50AMP)

The Whittington Center hosts 120 RV campsites in two adjacent areas. All campsites are equipped with water, electricity, and sewage hookups. A bathhouse, complete with laundry facilities, compliments the campground. All campsites are designed as pull through and will accommodate the longest travel trailers. No campfires are allowed; however, charcoal or gas grills are acceptable.


PRIMITIVE CAMPGROUND ($12.00 / PER SITE)

The primitive campground provides picnic tables, water, chemical toilet, and trash removal for those who desire more rustic surroundings.  There are 26 tent spaces and camping is limited to tents and small pop up tent trailers only. Small campfires are permitted in approved fire pits.

Practical Pistol Course Requirements

PPI Course Requirements

What you will need (packing list is for each individual course):

  • Sidearm (semi-automatic or revolver)
  • 3 magazines/speed loader minimum
  • 500 rounds ammunition (NOTE: No Handloaded Ammunition Accepted in the Course)
  • Holster (Open or Concealed) (NOTE: No pocket holsters)
  • Sturdy Belt
  • Hearing Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • Sunscreen
  • 100 oz Water per day

PPII Course Requirements

Same requirements as PPI (see above). Plus:

  • Knee Pads
  • Elbow Pads

PPIII Course Requirements

Same requirements as PPI and PPII (see above). Plus:

  • Flashlight (Mounted or Unmounted – or both)

Practical Carbine Course Requirements

PCI Course Requirements

Required Equipment:

  • Rifle chambered in appropriate cartridge/caliber
 (NOTE: 7.62x51mm and 7.62x39mm not accepted in the course at this time)
  • Rifle Optic Preferred
  • 600 Rounds of ammunition (NOTE: No Handloads Accepted)
  • Sling (2 point recommended)
  • Load Bearing Equipment or Magazine Pouch
  • Minimum 3 Magazines
  • Rifle Cleaning Kit
  • Camelbak or water container
  • Bug Spray
  • Sunblock
  • Knee Pads
  • Elbow Pads

Course participants may also purchase an ammunition package with the appropriate round count.

  • Flashlight or mounted light

  • 200 Rounds of ammunition More is encouraged Handloads are acceptable
  • Rifle Optic 10X minimum NOTE: 100MOA/29Mil Elevation Travel preferred
